Let’s Help International (LHI) today welcomed the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Protection Department for a due diligence and organizational assessment meeting at the LHI office in Bukere, Kyaka II Refugee Settlement.
The visit formed part of NRC’s assessment of Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) operating in Kyaka II to identify experienced organizations with the capacity to support protection interventions within the settlement.
During the meeting, LHI presented its organizational background and highlighted its experience in Community-Based Protection (CBP), Education, and Digital Inclusion, with a particular focus on protection programming. The team shared lessons from its partnership with ALIGHT, through which LHI supported the construction of 34 shelters for vulnerable refugee households between 2023 and 2024.
The discussions also explored potential collaboration in community mobilization, community sensitization, protection dialogues, support for Persons with Specific Needs (PSNs), and shelter-related interventions. NRC further shared information about its current protection programmes, including shelter assistance and multipurpose cash assistance for vulnerable households.
The two organizations agreed to continue discussions toward establishing a formal partnership through the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Concept Note, subject to future programme planning and funding opportunities.
Speaking after the meeting, LHI Chief Executive Officer, Euthalie Dusengeyezu, welcomed the engagement, emphasizing that partnerships with humanitarian actors are essential in strengthening refugee-led responses and ensuring that vulnerable communities receive timely and sustainable support.
LHI appreciates the NRC Protection Team for conducting the assessment and recognizes the opportunity to showcase the organization’s commitment to protecting and empowering refugee communities. The organization looks forward to continued collaboration aimed at improving the well-being and resilience of refugees and host communities in Kyaka II.
