I know them; they also don’t have access to education. – Pr. Festo

My heart was saddened by seeing these refugee children fishing in the morning of Saturday, March 06, 2021, searching what to eat. I know them; they also don’t have access to education. They stay in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement, Kyegegwa District, Uganda.

Lack of education has serious effects on everyone, not only people who are under-educated. People who lack education have trouble getting ahead in life, have worse health and are poorer than the well-educated.

5 Main Consequences of Not Having Access to Education:

  1. Lack of Representation.
  2. Unemployment.
  3. Promotes Exploitation. (Exploitation can include child labor, prostitution and child marriage.)
  4.  Difficulty Raising Children.
  5.  Poverty and hunger Trap.

In order to avoid these five consequences of not having access to education, citizens around the world need to take action to increase access to education. Through advocacy and campaigns, there can be a change for the better. Once again, it is important to highlight the importance of education as it provides many opportunities for the future.
