Let’s Help International (LHI) is proud to introduce the Digital Inclusion program in Uganda’s Kyaka II Refugee settlement, a revolutionary initiative to empower refugees in an ever-evolving digital world. We are running a GoFundMe Campaign in an effort to raise $12,000 USD to establish a fully equipped computer lab, providing essential digital skills training to those who need it most.
Problem:
Refugee-led businesses face unique challenges, with limited market access and a lack of crucial Information and communication technology (ICT) skills hindering their growth and economic empowerment. There are more than 524 organizations and groups in the settlement that lack recognition and support. At LHI, we believe in practical solutions that create lasting impact. That’s why we are launching the “Digital Empowerment for Refugee-led Businesses” project, which centers around establishing a “Digital Empowerment Center.” This center will be a learning hub, offering comprehensive training, resources, and ongoing support to refugee entrepreneurs.
Objective:
The core objective of the Digital Inclusion program is to empower 192 learners annually with vital digital skills. These skills include digital protection, online safety, effective communication, social media usage, reporting, grant writing, and virtual meeting attendance. We understand that not everyone has access to computers; therefore, our approach includes smartphone training as well, ensuring inclusivity and sustainability within the refugee community.
Solution:
By directly empowering 192 learners each year, we envision an indirect impact on at least 1,920 more individuals through a train-the-trainer model within their organizations or groups.
We plan to train 48 new learners from refugee-led organizations every three months. These training sessions held twice a week, will provide hands-on learning opportunities and essential digital resources. We will also offer continuous support to ensure practical application of the acquired skills.
The program culminates with a virtual conference, where we will showcase the impact of the Digital Inclusion program, celebrating success stories and sharing the transformative power of technology.
Together, we can bridge the digital divide, nurture hope, and build a brighter future for refugees seeking new beginnings.
Digital Empowerment for Everyone – LHI Digital Inclusion Project

Let’s Help International-LHI has a strong capacity in digital inclusion knowledge and experience, demonstrated through its active participation in various impactful initiatives. Notably, LHI took part in the renowned UNHCR’s Digital Gender Inclusion and Innovation Bootcamp, an esteemed program focusing on promoting gender equality in the digital sphere. This selection came amidst tough competition, with over 300 applicants vying for a spot. LHI’s commitment to advancing gender equality in the digital world made it stand out, earning the organization the privilege to send two of its staff members to the 4-day Bootcamp held by HERE I AM STUDIO from the 10th to the 13th of July 2023. This participation is a testament to LHI’s dedication to empowering individuals and fostering inclusive innovation in the realm of technology.
