Tragically, her father passed away during the war in Congo, leaving Chance and her siblings in the care of their mother and two relatives. While her mother works tirelessly to provide for the family, the struggle to meet basic needs often interferes with Chance’s education.She recalls, “When my mother goes to work, we sometimes spend the day with an empty stomach, and I fail to focus on my studies.” This hardship deeply worries Chance, as she fears it will prevent her from achieving her dreams.Chance dreams of becoming a pilot, imagining herself flying an airplane one day. To ease her mother’s burden, she wishes for a sewing machine, so her mother could start a small business and provide more stability. This would allow Chance to return home from school to a prepared meal, creating a safer, more supportive environment for her to continue her studies.
