Bakatuseka is the youngest of five siblings, born to Congolese parents. After the death of his father, he now lives with his mother in the Kyaka 2 Refugee Settlement in Uganda, on a plot provided by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and UNHCR.Life is tough for Bakatuseka and his family. His mother, though older, struggles to survive by migrating in search of food, often leaving the family in hardship. As a result, Bakatuseka rarely experiences joy, spending his weekends and holidays searching for work to support his mother.Bakatuseka dreams of becoming someone who can make a difference, especially for his mother, and help his family lead a better life. He hopes that if his mother had access to land, she could grow crops and harvest enough to sustain the family, instead of working for others.
