Let’s Help International (LHI) is a humanitarian organization dedicated to transforming lives and empowering communities through targeted interventions in critical areas, including Education, Digital Inclusion, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Livelihood, Protection, and Climate Action. LHI’s mission is to deliver immediate assistance while fostering sustainable solutions for long-term, positive impact.
Education
Let’s Help International (LHI) is actively engaged in promoting education, recognizing the significance of both formal and informal education, particularly in refugee settlements.

Formal Education: LHI focuses on assisting vulnerable children, specifically refugee children, who face challenges in accessing education. Through the Education for the Most Vulnerable Refugee Children (SEMVRC) Project, LHI identifies out-of-school children in the Kyaka II Refugee Settlement and provides comprehensive support. This support includes covering school fees, supplying scholastic materials, conducting follow-up activities, and offering psycho-social assistance. By addressing the barriers to education, LHI strives to ensure that refugee children have the opportunity to receive a formal education and build a brighter future for themselves.
Informal Education: LHI recognizes the importance of informal education and provides valuable digital skills training to residents of the Kyaka II Refugee Settlement. This training equips individuals with essential skills for the digital age, including email usage, social media management, proposal and grant writing, reporting, web and graphic design, multimedia skills, and other practical life skills. By empowering refugees with relevant skills, LHI enhances their employability, livelihoods, and self-reliance.
LHI’s Commitment to Sustainable Change in Climate Action

Tackling Climate Change: LHI actively engages in initiatives aimed at mitigating climate change effects and promoting sustainable practices. The organization focuses on three pillars: Mitigation, Adaptation, and Empowerment. Projects like the “Empowering Women for Sustainable Cooking in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement” exemplify LHI’s dedication to reducing deforestation, improving safety, and addressing economic challenges. The Energy-Saving Stoves Project, for instance, equips women-led groups with eco-friendly stoves to enhance cooking practices sustainably.
Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Initiatives

Empowering Communities Through WASH: In partnership with Equal Aqua Uganda, LHI has launched a groundbreaking WASH initiative in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement. The program aims to improve access to clean water and sanitation facilities in schools. Key components include constructing water tanks using recycled plastic bottles, installing latrines, and utilizing environmentally friendly materials. This initiative ensures a healthier and more hygienic environment for students and the community.
Protection Programs

Safeguarding Vulnerable Populations: LHI’s protection programs in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement focus on community-based approaches to safeguard refugees, particularly Persons with Special Needs (PWS), children at risk, and other vulnerable groups. Key activities include the distribution of essential non-food items, cases identification and referral, community engagement, and temporary shelter construction. Partnerships with organizations like ALIGHT and UNHCR strengthen LHI’s capacity to protect and empower vulnerable populations.
Digital Inclusion Initiatives

Bridging the Digital Divide: LHI empowers marginalized communities through digital skills training and innovative platforms like KYAKA-2.COM. These programs, implemented in Uganda and Canada, focus on equipping women and newcomers with essential ICT skills, fostering economic empowerment, and promoting social inclusion. Projects like the “Digital Empowerment for Refugee Women-led Businesses” provide mentorship and resources to enhance digital literacy and entrepreneurship.
Livelihood
This program aims at promoting the People’s Welfare through different activities.

Fighting Malnutrition: Malnutrition is one of the major challenges in refugee settlements. LHI addresses this issue by providing nutritional education, supporting community gardens, and distributing nutritious food supplies and animals to vulnerable families. These efforts aim to improve overall health and well-being, especially for children and pregnant women.
Family Care: The Family Care program targets the most vulnerable families by providing essential needs such as food, clothing, and household supplies. LHI ensures that these families receive consistent support to enhance their living conditions and dignity.
Behavior Change Communication (BCC): LHI employs an interactive process with communities to promote sustainable behavior changes. The BCC approach includes tailored campaigns addressing hygiene practices, nutrition, family planning, HIV/AIDS Awareness and other critical areas. By engaging communities actively, LHI fosters awareness and adoption of positive practices that improve quality of life.
